New venue,

New exhibitors, New seminars, New products, New services.

As the doors opened on the new Exhibition Centre Liverpool to FPS EXPO 2016 on 20 April, visitors were still able to smell the freshness of the venue which had only been open for seven months. The organisers of FPS EXPO 2016 oil distribution trade association the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers (FPS) were looking for great things from this new venue and the city of Liverpool for FPS EXPO 2016. All the signs on the opening day pointed to an exhibition that exceeded all FPS records with bumper visitor numbers expected and an increase in exhibitors on previous years and 2016 didn’t disappoint.

FPS EXPO 2016 saw an increase of 15% of visitors on 2015 and visitors came from as far afield as the Falkland Islands, Australia, Singapore, the USA, Mexico and Canada as well as Europe.

The two day event covered 8100 sq metres with 120 exhibitors including new names for 2016 Wincanton, Suttons Group, TIP Trailer Services UK Ltd, Essar Oil UK Ltd, Liquip UK PTY Ltd, Backwatch Safety, In Control Projects Ltd and Tyretracks Ltd alongside long standing exhibitors MAN Truck and Bus UK Ltd, Philips 66 UK, G Magyar SA, RTN Lakeland Limited, Mabanaft, Elaflex, Dixon Europe, Scania, Pen Underwriting incorporating OAMPS, Williams Tanker Services Ltd and Filtertechnik.

The ability to network with all the major companies, organisations and associations involved in this sector under one roof remains one of its key attractions.

More than half of the exhibiting companies announced new products and services at the show - everything from new tankers, testing equipment, safety equipment, new computer software and oil storage equipment to all the ancillary equipment that goes with them.

FPS EXPO also had for the first time key industry professionals speaking in a series of seminars including the DVSA, HSE, The Deputy Traffic Commissioner and CIRIA. The show also offered great networking opportunities including the FPS President’s Networking event on the first evening of the exhibition.

Dawn Shakespeare FPS Marketing and Events Manager commented: “We did this to create more time that can be devoted to exhibitors and visitors.

Having a first night exhibitor and visitor drinks reception on the opening night of FPS EXPO 2016 meant that lots of exhibitors and visitors could stay longer on the first day of the show and make the most of a fantastic opportunity to network on an informal basis”

Dawn added: “FPS EXPO is always extremely popular because of the diverse range of industry experts that exhibit at the show but 2016 beat all expectations and was even more successful than ever before. The interest in Liverpool was phenomenal and our After Show Party at Circo Liverpool, a unique circus-themed bar and restaurant boasting spectacular panoramic views of Liverpool’s historic Albert Dock, on the Thursday evening was a great end to the exhibition. Again this is a first for FPS EXPO, normally we have a black tie event but this year we wanted the exhibition to end with a bang and we felt a circus themed venue would add to the uniqueness of the 2016 exhibition – new venue, new city, new exhibitors, new products, new seminars and a new after show event.
