DAVID WALLIAMS CLIMBED TO CLAIM THE OVERALL NUMBER ONE SPOT
For a second week running, Pinch of Nom: Enjoy sold more copies than the number one bestseller, yet was excluded from The Bookseller’s charts because of its 85% discount. The cookbook’s average selling price fell even further week on week, to £3.02— an Amazon Prime Day deal had it at £3. Volume rose to its second highest week since release, with only its launch week shiſting more. The World’s Worst Monsters notched
up Walliams’ first number one of 2023, his 79th week in the overall top spot to date. The comedian- turned-author is only a handful of weeks away from the all-time record, with J K Rowling (and Robert Galbraith) on 87 weeks in the number one spot and Dan Brown on 82 in the Nielsen BookScan era. However, let’s not forget Jamie Oliver, on 70 weeks— the celebrit chef is arguably the most consistent aside
from Walliams, with at least one week at number one in 16 of the past 20 years. With 5 Ingredients: Mediterranean on the horizon, it’s likely Oliver will be closing the gap on Walliams soon. Perhaps it was the effect of Prime Day, or inflation finally Continues overleaf
