kbb Birmingham 2022 set to reunite industry

ORGANISERS OF kbb Bir mingham 2022 say the show will bring the industry back together as it reveals some of the major highlights visitors will get to experience. Billed as Europe’s largest dedicated exhibition for kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, the biennial event will take place on March 6-9 2022 at the NEC in Birmingham.

The event is expected to feature more than 300 exhibitors – including Quooker, Caple, Electrolux, Davroc and Caesarstone.

Organisers anticipate around 15,000 visitors over the four days, including senior decision makers from the residential, retail and contract sector. Commenting on the return of the

show, kbb Birmingham sales director Jon Johnston said: “We are looking forward to reuniting the KBB industry for four days of unrivalled networking and specifying. For many of our exhibitors, this will be the first

opportunity they’ve had to showcase their latest products and services, following an unprecedented two years. Kbb Birmingham offers an unbeatable opportunity for our community to meet in-person with valued partners, colleagues and visitors – we can’t wait to welcome everyone back.” In keeping with the Government’s post-Covid-19 guidelines, the show’s organiser – Informa – has also introduced a number of best safety practices to reassure visitors and exhibitors that the event will be as safe and hygienic as possible. These include: • Aisles widened to 4m across the show floor to allow for easier density

management and physical distancing, should this be recommended by local government at the time of the show. • Physical visitor and exhibitor badges will be replaced this year by digital

badges that can be accessed on any smartphone. All visitors will be encouraged to register online rather than when they arrive at the event. Kbbreview proudly returns as the event’s lead media partner and will,

once again, produce a special show edition of the magazine available exclusively to visitors. Showing its commitment to the event and the industry, the kbbreview Retail and Design Awards will also run alongside the show on Monday March 7, 2022.

NHS worker wins £10k bathroom in local retailer’s competition

DONCASTER NHS worker Veronica Maxwell has won a bathroom makeover worth £10,000 in a competition run by local retailer Spinks Interiors. The retailer, part of family-run plumbers, builders merchant and bathroom showroom AE Spink, invited NHS workers who live near its show rooms in Doncaster, Leeds and Work sop to enter a competition on its website to win a dream bathroom makeover.

The company was overwhelmed with the response and the many heart- warming stories, “all of which”, said Spinks Interiors, “deserved to win”. Doncaster Royal Infirmary Res - earcher Veronica Maxwell sent in pictures of her current bathroom, which she described as leaking the whole time she had lived there, with tiles that didn’t fit the walls and a shower that had to be turned on by an isolation valve under the floorboards. And she was chosen as the winner because the company felt that her story stood out.

During the pandemic, she helped to set up and run a drive-through Covid

swabbing station and was responsible for helping a small team of nurses to contact, comfort, offer support and then ultimately book appointments for and swab members of staff who had fallen unwell with covid.

Then she joined a team of people fitting out front-line staff with essential PPE, working long days to ensure thousands of staff were safe to continue their work saving lives. In addition to her NHS work,

Veronica has also run her own charity fund-raising appeal for the past six years, The Homeless Shoebox Appeal, which supports many local charities at Christmas.

Spinks Interiors showroom manager Marie Hobson said: “Everyone deserved to win. Veronica’s story stood out – not only was her bathroom in dire need of a makeover, but she had really helped the community during the pandemic. She was our worthy winner and we are so pleased to be able to give her a dream bathroom.” Veronica’s chosen bathroom (pictured) featured products from ranges by Roper Rhodes and Merlyn with tiles from Ca’ Pietra.
