Welcome
Andrew Davies Managing Editor, Taylist Media
Well, what a night THAT was. The kbbreview Retail & Design Awards is always hard work to organise (just look at the photo above, I’m actually 27). However since 2019, when we resolved to hold the event
in interesting and characterful venues in non-kbb Show years, the task became even bigger. These are venues that not only have we never used before, but also often ones that aren’t used to hosting events of this scale - it’s a steep learning curve for everyone involved but when it works, boy does it work. The Blackroom Tower Ballroom is an iconic place by
reputation but walking into it with the lights combing the ornate decor and the giant glitter ball giving the whole space an almost magical sparkle, well, that hard work is more than worth it.
But as fun as the night was, we should never forget why we’re all there - to acknowledge the proper hard work of the retailers, installers and designers that made up the shortlist. They have also earned their place in that ballroom and 16 of them walked away with a trophy almost as iconic as the Blackpool Tower itself.
A huge thanks to everyone who came and especially to all our generous sponsors - see you in Birmingham next year!
