HANGAR TALK Alpine Aerotech Adds Bell 205 to Digital Instrument STC
Alpine Aerotech recently announced that it has re-issued its cost-effective digital flight instrument supplemental type certificate (STC) to include the Bell 205 for day/night visual flight rules (VFR) operations. This digital instrument kit has been previously approved for installation on Bell 212 aircraft in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
The digital flight instrument kit is specifically designed to replace standard analog instruments, which tend to be more expensive to repair and sometimes unreliable. The upgraded heading and attitude indicators are more accurate than analog instruments, which have moving parts that eventually wear out over time. The installer can also remove tarsyn/rate gyros, flux valve, remote compensator, compass control, and all associated wiring, resulting in fewer failures and a substantial decrease in weight. The digital instrument kit also includes all installation provisions, which creates a near plug-and-play solution that requires only minor structural modifications for a GPS antenna installation. For added safety, the attitude indicator has an internal backup battery that provides approximately an hour of service in the event of a complete power failure, which is unique to the Bell 205 installation. The digital instrument kit comes with a complete 2-year warranty on all instruments and components. Alpine Aerotech is now accepting pre-orders and is offering limited time introductory pricing.
