WASHCONNECT– changing the way you do laundry
Debbie Jones, care expert at WASHCO, shares insight on why its intelligent range of WASHCONNECT machines are making such an impact across the sector and supporting care homes during the pandemic
Technological innovations are transforming the care sector, allowing homes to think outside the box and do things differently. One area in particular that is benefiting from the latest technology, is your laundry. This is thanks to WASHCONNECT - the industry’s first range of smart laundry equipment by WASHCO– the leaders in laundry.
Infection control management At a time when they need it most, WASHCONNECT has given care homes 100 per cent confidence in their laundry service and infection control management. Developed using the latest IoT technology, our Care Quality Commission compliant smart washers and dryers ensure linen is hygienically clean and provide homes with full visibility and real-time temperature validation throughout their entire laundry process. With WASHCONNECT homes can be sure their laundry will meet strict industry regulations.
Remote fault diagnoses All our WASHCONNECT machines feature embedded electronics, software, sensors, actuators and network connectivity to enable them to link to our dedicated central cloud portal. Through this cloud portal, we can see what is happening and, for the first time, identify remotely when and why a machine may not be working. The remote diagnoses feature has been particularly useful for care homes this year due to visitor restrictions during the pandemic. Often, we are able to respond to many issues without the need for engineers to be sent out. However, when they do, WASHCONNECT allows us to inform them about faults before they attend, so an accurate solution can be determined beforehand based on facts.

How WASHCONNECT helped a care home manage their laundry Last year WASHCO were approached by the Broadmead care home near Newburyin Berkshire, which was looking to replace their old laundry equipment after a negative experience with their previous supplier.
At a time where laundry management and infection control have been of paramount importance, we instantly understood the need for a 24/7, seamless solution, tailored specifically to Broadmead’s requirements. Having tried a wide variety of machines and experiencing under-par service from other suppliers in the past, the idea of a new and innovative product excited the management. After discussing the options available to them, they were particularly impressed with WASHCONNECT’s range of unique features combined with our unrivalled service and maintenance plans.
