Benefits of industrialised modular construction


The Samic Pediatric Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina, specialises in the health of children from birth to 15 years old. It is a reference centre at both national and regional level for high complexity pathologies. The decision was made to relocate the vaccination centre in a building that is separate to the hospital in order to improve access from the public road and patient flow.

The Samic Pediatric Hospital operates on a national and regional level for vaccinations, which is why the flow of patients is considerable and constant. Therefore, a new building was constructed inside the hospital grounds but independent of the hospital itself using an industrialised modular method, which guarantees a high level of quality and design control.


Metallic panels with an insulating core were erected in a continuous line and covered on both sides with a pre-painted galvanized iron laminate. With direct access from the street, the new vaccination centre has a waiting room, reception and

treatment rooms. It also includes a preparation area, staff rooms, maintenance areas and space to store clean and used materials. Every room benefits from natural and artificial light, air conditioning and washable walls and floors. The industrialised modular
