Fast and precise laparoscopic dissection Erbe’s TriSect rapide, a minimally invasive electrosurgical instrument, gets the surgeon faster to the goal and covers a range of functions and replaces several instruments intraoperatively. Vessels and tissue bundles can be grasped, dissected and sealed in a single procedure without changing instruments. The solution allows surgeons to dissect and seal in one single step. Modes of the VIO 3 electrosurgical unit specifically designed for TriSect rapide - such as thermoSECT - cut similarly to scissors. Tissue bundles can be separated with a haemostasis effect, and vessels up to 5 mm can be reliably sealed. With the softCOAG coagulation mode, thick tissue bundles are pre-coagulated with the branch, small oozing haemorrhages are spot-coagulated or diffuse haemorrhages are stopped over a large area. TriSect rapide allows precise preparation in the immediate vicinity of adjacent structures. This is because the temperature level of less than 100°C at the backs of the branches is significantly lower than that of comparable instruments. The branch even cools down to a low 60°C after a single dissection and sealing. Added to this is the low lateral thermal spread of less than 1 mm. Adjacent sensitive structures are thus protected. The thermal influence on the surrounding tissue can be further reduced by a short activation, allowing safe dissection close to sensitive structures such as the intestine. Low vascularised structures, such as in the


mesentery, can be completely dissected by the experienced surgeon without accompanying coagulation bluntly or electrosurgically faster. In initial acceptance tests, 96% of users rated the instrument as innovative and it has gained attention of the design jury to award TriSect rapide with the Red Dot Award 2023 and the iF Award 2023. This scientifically engineered, advanced dressing therapy delivers negative pressure to the wound, holding wound edges together, decreasing lateral tension and reducing the risk of seromas and superficial SSIs developing.
