P RODUCT S Faecal Immunochemical Testing

Based on evidence, the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) (2022), has updated guidelines for identifying patients requiring further investigation for bowel disease*. These include the following: l FIT to stratify patients younger than 50 years with bowel symptoms suspicious of CRC l FIT to be used as triage tool for further

colorectal investigation at primary care level

l FIT threshold of fHb ≥10 µg Hb/g for urgent referral for CRC investigation

l Safety-netting for symptomatic patients if fHb <10µg Hb/g

l FIT to be used for people with iron deficiency anaemia within primary care

l Counselling to encourage completion of FIT tests

l Clinicians to actively prevent discrimination at any stage of the diagnostic pathway as symptomatic FIT

ALPHA LABORATORIES provides a complete FIT service solution including patient packs for sample collection and return logistics. The automated HM-JACKarc analysis platform is widely recommended and ensures excellent sensitivity and specificity. * https://gut.bmj.com/content/ early/2022/07/25/gutjnl-2022-327985

Pouches to streamline recycling

The first of its kind to be UN-approved for classified liquids, DIVERSEY has developed the fully recyclable “SafePack” pouches. These pouches aid their customers in lowering carbon emissions, reducing plastic waste, and meeting the highest standards for recyclability.

Just one pouch holds enough

concentrated cleaning solution to fill many spray bottles once diluted, over and over again. Considering the same spray bottle can be reused, the CO2

eq. generated can be just

0.11, compared to a previous 24.7. SafePack pouches are made from monolayer Polyethylene; a better option for the environment and easier to be recycled. This latest innovation is a further step

in the company’s sustainability ambition. Pouches with concentrated products are one of the most efficient cleaning and hygiene propositions. They allow users to refill reusable spray bottles over and over again, thus improving plastic reuse and minimising waste. By now ensuring the pouches are fully recyclable, Diversey is providing a greater contribution to the circular economy.

New3-in-1 mild lotionwash

GOJO has launched Mild Lotion Wash – a new lotion soap that is gentle enough for the most delicate of skin and ideal for use in healthcare facilities. GOJO Mild Lotion Wash benefits from an innovative 3-in-1 formula, meaning it is suitable for use on hair, body, and hands and negates the need for separate soap, shower gel, and shampoo products. It is formulated with plant-based glycerin and is colourless, unfragranced, and pH neutral. Extremely gentle, it can even be used on infants’ delicate skin. It helps to maintain the skin’s natural

moisture, and when tested on volunteers under medical control, it demonstrated good tolerance. Designed for frequent use, it is suited for widespread application within a variety of healthcare facilities, such as nursing homes, care units, operating rooms, and maternity wards.

It has also been developed with the environment in mind.

The raw materials have been carefully selected for their toxicological and eco- toxicological profiles and the formulation meets the strict biodegradability criteria, which minimises the impact on aquatic eco-systems.
