SUSTAINABILITY AND THE GREEN AGENDA

MOVING FROM SINGLE USE TO REUSABLE INSTRUMENTS! WHAT ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES AND IMPACTS ON SSD AND INDUSTRY?

This covers: the green agenda & sustainability in decontamination and medical devices., presentations on the approach by NHS

Supply Chain, and how department managers have introduced changes into their departments to help meet national targets.

MedTech Design for Life Working Group is a collaborative short-life working group, to explore medical devices’ reuse, remanufacture and materials recovery at end of life. The aim is to make recommendations for inclusion in a road map to deliver a shift to a circular economy for the MedTech sector. One of the priorities is to explore the move from single use to reusable options. A survey of SSD Infrastructure and workforce was sent to Sterile Service Departments (SSD) in the UK, to seek feedback from the SSD community on capacity and challenges related to SSD’s infrastructure and workforce. IDSc was instrumental in the distribution of the survey. The potential impacts and opportunities on SSD and industry will be discussed during the presentation.
