Gillian McIntosh After graduation Gillian took a post as a trainee Technical Advisor (Decontamination) at Health Facilities Scotland/ NHSScotland Assure. Gillian is currently undertaking decontamination training at TU Dublin.


Gillian has been involved in developing the proposal for a number of decontamination research projects. Additionally, she was involved in the development and data analysis of the survey of UK SSD infrastructure and Workforce for MedTech Design for Life Working Group.

She is also the lead for working group 5 ‘Infrastructure and workforce’ which is part of the Design for life collaborative initiative between government, industry, the health and care sector, and academia to explore and identify practical actions that address the challenges of resource security and efficiency, supply resilience, net zero and single-use plastics facing medtech in the UK. Presentation title for Gillian and Sulisti: will be MedTech Design for Life working group 5 infrastructure and workforce. MedTech Design for Life Working Group is a collaborative short life working group, to explore medical device’s reuse, remanufacture and materials recovery at end of life, and make recommendations for inclusion in a road map to deliver a shift to a circular economy for the MedTech sector. A survey of SSD Infrastructure and workforce was sent to Sterile Service Departments (SSD) in the UK, to seek feedback from SSD community on capacity and challenges related to SSD’s infrastructure and workforce. IDSc was instrumental in the distribution of the survey. The findings are to be presented.
