About the author
Dr Tharakan is a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. Following postgraduate anaesthetic training in India, she completed anaesthetic training in London and East Anglia. She did advanced pain training in East Anglia and proceeded to do a fellowship in pain medicine and anaesthesia in Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto. She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (RCoA) and Faculty Tutor for Pain Medicine. Her interests are regional anaesthesia, ultrasound for pain management interventions, pain education, and holistic pain management. She has wide experience in pain medicine working at different centres across the UK - Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge), King’s College Hospital, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore), and University Hospitals of Leicester.
