IQ5 BEMS controller will ‘help drive digital transformation’
Trend Control Systems says its new IQ5 building controller will ‘support the digitisation of new and existing buildings’. The IQ5 enables secure, real- time data communication ‘using deterministic Ethernet technology, robust ISA-grade security, and support for up to 300 I/O points’. Trend says this means that, without authentication, there is no ability to see or manipulate the data within the controllers or IO modules, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical building control data. Developed by industry experts
in conjunction with Trend partners, building owners, and Facility managers, the IQ5 aims to improve data transmission between field systems and the building energy management system. IQ5 controllers use a new I/O bus technology based on T1L Ethernet, which enables high data transfer speeds of up to 10 Mbps across long distances. The technology also facilitates low-latency asynchronous communication over cable lengths up to 300 metres, all with end-to-end data encryption. In addition, the IQ5 offers a
hierarchical control functionality, ensuring that communication with critical equipment is prioritised. Utilising a system architecture which has a high speed IO Bus gives ‘the ability to drive the IOT devices to the edge’ with reliable and fast connectivity. Trend Controls added: “IQ5
controllers are modular in design. I/O modules slide into place, allowing the system to scale as building demands change. IQ5 is designed to meet ISA62443 security level 3 guidelines. System users now have a single log-on, with password changes synchronised across all networked controllers.”
‘Smart’ operating table based on years of experience
Getinge says its new Maquet Corin is ‘an intuitive, safe, smart, and connected’ operating room (OR) table ‘designed to streamline daily routines in today’s busy surgical departments’. “Maquet Corin takes a
step forward in areas that are crucial for surgical teams,” said Stéphane Le Roy, President, Surgical Workflows, at Getinge. “Its flexibility and ease of use save time by facilitating teamwork and communication. It also includes smart sensor-based safety features that help protect theatre staff and equipment.” Getinge says the simplified user
interface is built on a small range of colours that are the same on the OR table, the remote control, and the override panel. For example, everything associated with the head of the table is blue, the controls for the feet end are in magenta, and emergency functions in orange. Other ‘smart’ Maquet Corin features
are ‘based on the same approach as the sophisticated active safety features in modern cars – preventing accidents and incidents by monitoring situations and warning, or even acting automatically
when needed’, Getinge says. ‘Collision detection’ protects staff working near the OR table and nearby equipment, such as C-arms and patient warming systems, while overload detection protects the operating table against structural damage with a warning when the load limit is reached or exceeded. A tipping prevention ensures safe positioning, even in unlock status, or with heavy patients in bariatric surgery. Maquet Corin streamlines the workflow
with pre-settings of common surgical positions, but with the additional option of configuring up to 30 personalised user sequences, with up to 40 waypoints to record individual path for a smooth patient positioning. The table can be used for general surgery, as well as specialty disciplines like bariatric surgery or hybrid and navigated procedures.
Bedpan washer-disinfector’s greater efficiency
DDC Dolphin says that its new Panamatic Midi bedpan washer-disinfector is ‘even more energy-efficient’, using 20% less energy per cycle than the previous version, and has ‘even more antimicrobial protection’, with the protected touch area 2.5 times larger than on the previous model. The company explained: “Polygiene antimicrobial protection is moulded into the updated lid and front panel. This silver ion antimicrobial powder reduces the growth of Campylobacter,
E.coli, Listeria, MRSA, Pseudomonas, and Salmonella, by up to 99.99%. It is tested to ISO 22196:2011.”
Other improvements to the new Panamatic Midi include: n 25% more capacity – enabling it to accommodate two pans and two bottles.
n A new ultrasonic foot sensor for lid opening – replacing the old foot cup, ‘eliminating the risk of a dirt trap’.

n Updated decals – clear, easy-to- understand symbols for ‘in cycle’ and ‘cycle complete’.
n A new ‘brilliant blue’ lid colour and silver
moulded front panel – creating a fresh modern look.
n The rear water tank is now covered by stainless steel side panels – further strengthening the unit, enhancing aesthetics, and simplifying cleaning. DDC Dolphin Marketing and HR director, Zoe Allen, said: “Our new Panamatic Midi bedpan washer-disinfectors offer superior infection control and are easier and more cost-effective to operate. The previous Panamatic Midi was state of the art – and now the improvements raise the bar even higher. This is just the start… there will soon be further enhancements to our range of bedpan washer-disinfectors.”
