A Faraday Challenge Day in progress at Cargilfield School in Edinburgh. Faraday Challenge 2021/2022
IHEEM, this season’s sponsor of the Faraday Challenge, is delighted to announce that the 2021/22 Faraday Challenge Days have now been successfully launched.
A total of 129 Challenge Days have been allocated for the 2021/22 season thus far, with a 239 schools across the UK applying to be a part of this year’s event. Natalie Moat, IET Faraday Education Manager, said: “Students who take part in the Faraday Challenge Days this year will experience working as an engineer through hands-on and practical engagement with real-life challenges relating to the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management. There is a huge demand for new engineers and technicians, and we are confident that this will challenge young people’s perception of engineers, and inspire the next generation, by giving them an insight into the life of a real engineer, and showing them just how exciting and creative engineering really is.”
The league for schools has now begun, and schools taking part are able

https://education.theiet.org/faraday- challenge-days/league-tables Paul Fenton MBE, President of IHEEM, expressed his excitement, “I am pleased that there has been such a good response; a key theme for me over the next year as part of our strategy is to encourage young people into healthcare engineering, and the Faraday Challenge is a great start, and something we can keep the momentum up on when visiting schools through our own STEM programme”. In addition, the virtual challenge was launched during the first week of October for anyone aged between 7-15. Young people can take part at home, in school, individually, or as a group or family, with the facility to do this available via the website from October 2021 until July 2022. While this is not part of the National Faraday Challenge competition, there are prizes to be won.
Please keep an eye on the Future Leaders section of the IHEEM website, ‘Future Leaders – IHEEM’, for further updates, and please share with colleagues, family, and friends.
6-10 NOV IFHE International Prospective Seminar 2021 and SMAES 18th International Congress, themed ‘Hospital del Futuro – Regenerate Health with Artificial intelligence’, taking place in a hybrid form (virtual and face-to-face), Mexico City.
