Project management specialist ‘feels privileged’ to join IHEEM

Sharaz Hussain, a Project manager at Mace Group since last July, with some seven years’ experience in healthcare construction and development in both contractor and consultancy roles – including at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic – is among the latest

industry professionals to be elected a Member of IHEEM.

Also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, and a Prince2 Practitioner in Project Management, he holds an HND in Construction & Property, and a BSc (Hons) in Construction Project Management, both from the University of Salford. Prior to joining Mace Group, he was a Construction manager at modular healthcare building specialist, MTX Contracts, for six years. While there,

among the wide range of projects he worked on were the construction of fully HTM-compliant Intensive Care and High Dependency Units, endoscopy facilities, operating theatres, acute medical units, and ward extensions, for some of the country’s busiest acute Trusts. His responsibilities

included client and stakeholder engagement, progress and programme monitoring, resource management, quality control, design coordination, and project reporting. Prior to his spell with MTX he was an assistant Project manager at Rochdale Borough Council. On joining the Institute, he said: “I feel privileged in achieving my MIHEEM membership status with well-established professional body, IHEEM, which I feel is recognition of my achievements and maturity within the healthcare sector.”

Delivered by IHEEM in partnership with Schneider Electric, this CPD- accredited one-day ‘Midlands Conference’, entitled ‘Future Proofing Healthcare’, will be held at The National Brewery Centre & Museum in Burton upon Trent. There will be presentations around the key themes of Net Zero Carbon & Sustainability, covering topics such as renewable solutions, air purification, lessons learnt from COVID-19, and design and planning for the future. There will also be a number of exhibitors at the event, and delegates will have the opportunity to visit and enjoy all that the Brewery Museum has to offer.

James Chadwick, Chair of the IHEEM East Midlands Branch, and IHEEM Council Member (pictured), said: “I am delighted that we are now able to plan in-person events. I know I am not alone in looking forward to having the opportunity to

network and share knowledge and ideas with others in an informal and relaxed environment. We are developing a fantastic programme across a number of topics that are having a major impact on our sector, and IHEEM’s new ticket pricing structure makes this event more inclusive and accessible. I am confident this is going to be a very informative and enjoyable day for both delegates and exhibitors.” Tickets are available to IHEEM members for only £50 (£100 for non- members – both exclusive of VAT), and further details on the programme and registration are available via the IHEEM website, at www.iheem.org. uk/events, or by telephoning Head Office on 023 9282 3186.
