Women’s Day, Bedales Prep School organised a special event, deviating from the usual timetable to host a line-up of inspirational women who conducted workshops and delivered talks to our pupils about their careers. Among them was Alison Ryan from IHEEM, who led an engaging STEM workshop. Highlighting the significance of STEM, we aimed to showcase a successful woman leading in this field, providing our pupils with a tangible role model. Alison’s workshop was a hit, leaving our students buzzing with ideas. They had the opportunity to learn about Alison’s journey to becoming an engineer, gaining insight into her sources of inspiration and the daily realities of the profession. “The hands-on portion of the workshop, where students collaborated to build a LEGO hospital, was particularly enjoyable. Their enthusiastic discussions about the hospital’s design features and sustainability considerations showcased their creativity and teamwork skills. “As an educator passionate about STEM education, I witnessed how these workshops brought STEM concepts to life for our students. Through interactive sessions with accomplished professionals like Alison, we aim to instil a passion for science and technology in our students, preparing them for future success in these fields.”
