January 2023 Health Estate Journal 7

Following the success of the annual IHEEM conference, exhibition, and dinner in 2022, planning for Healthcare Estates 2023 is now progressing at pace, and last month IHEEM announced the five key themes for the 2023 conference. These are:

1 Health & Social Care Planning How can the estates and facilities profession effectively support & influence the delivery of the Integrated Health & Social Care System’s future strategic planning requirements?

2 Governance, Assurance & Compliance of the Healthcare Estate & Infrastructure How can we ensure that healthcare estate services and critical functions relating to patient safety are compliant and appropriately managed to meet the increased governance in national policy and legislative requirements of governing bodies such as HSE & CQC?

services are designed differently – particularly in the areas of ventilation, water safety, infection control, and infrastructure resilience?

5 Operational Delivery of the Healthcare Estate How can the estates and facilities profession continue to deliver high quality healthcare services and functions to patients as they face increased and conflicting challenges of capability, capacity, and efficiency – particularly around workforce and the Net Zero Carbon agendas?

IHEEM CEO, Pete Sellars, said “We

received a record number of submissions in 2022, which was a clear indication that we were addressing the issues that had the greatest impact on our sector. I know that the five key themes for 2023 go to the heart of the challenges that our members and the wider healthcare engineering and EFM sector are confronting. I would encourage everyone who would like to take part in the conference to submit a presentation proposal for consideration. Once again it promises to be an informative and thought-provoking conference.” You can submit a presentation paper

proposal via the Healthcare Estates website at: https://www.healthcare- estates.com/
