INSTITUTE NEWS

Ventilation specialist’s ‘Lean, Mean, Green’ approach

One of the latest organisations to join IHEEM as a Company Affiliate Member is Mitsubishi Electric, which says it has ‘developed a proud reputation for excellence’ over its 100-year history, and today offers ‘a pioneering range’ of cooling, heating, ventilation, and controls solutions that ‘deliver reliable, accurate, energy-efficient comfort for any building, all year round’. The business said: “We can help provide

staff, visitors, and patients, with complete comfort, while also ensuring that healthcare facilities meet today’s energy efficiency requirements. “Our comprehensive range of air-

conditioning, IT cooling, chillers, renewable heating, ventilation, and control solutions, are all manufactured to exacting standards, and supported with the highest level of pre- and

after-sales service. “At Mitsubishi Electric, we believe

the way to optimum efficiency is through a ‘Lean, Mean, Green’ approach that achieves the right solution for each building: Lean – reduce energy consumption; Mean – deploy energy- efficient products; Green – incorporate low and zero carbon technologies.” The company explains that this is

why it is eager to become involved with IHEEM – ‘because we understand the key legislative and carbon reduction challenges facing healthcare providers on the road to Net Zero’. It said: “We want to use our expertise and knowledge to help optimise HVAC equipment throughout the healthcare sector, so that it delivers the performance required, while minimising carbon emissions and operating costs.”

No 2023 annual increase in IHEEM membership fees

IHEEM is pleased to announce that it will not be increasing its fees for any level of membership in 2023. Pete Sellars, IHEEM’s CEO, said: “The Institute understands the financial challenges that many members and affiliate organisations are facing at the moment. 2022 has been an incredibly successful year for IHEEM, and we would like to formally recognise and respond to the fact that all of our members contribute to that success. That is why IHEEM Council has taken the decision to freeze all membership fees for the next year. We want to ensure that the Institute remains accessible and inclusive, and that existing, as well as new, members, can continue to enjoy all the benefits that being a part of the IHEEM family offers. “I am confident that offering the financial reassurance that our membership fees will not be increased will be welcomed, and that it helps and supports our individual and affiliate members during this period of economic uncertainty. Once again, I would like to thank all our members for their valued and continued support.”

IHEEM Electrical Technical Platform seeking new members

IHEEM’s Electrical Technical Platform (ETP) is a group of electrical engineers working in all aspects of healthcare engineering.

Currently the ETP provides representation and comment on numerous documents on behalf of IHEEM, examples being representation in the development and maintenance of BS 7671, along with national representation in international documentation, including IEC 60364-7-710, as well as significant contribution to HTMs etc. IHEEM said: “The ETP wishes to expand the breadth of representation and technical input into sector-specific guidance, as well as our scope of representation in other British Standards. We therefore invite potential Platform members at all stages of their careers who have an interest in developing

healthcare standards and guidance to submit their applications to join the ETP by submitting an application of interest to clair.wilkins@iheem.org.uk in the first instance.
