• The Institute has engaged in numerous activities in the last few weeks, including supporting and celebrating National Healthcare Estates & Facilities Day, hosting the 2024 Authorising Engineers Conference, launching the IHEEM Mentoring System, and attending STEM project events.

• The AE Conference (pictured above) on 9 July, this year sponsored by PPL Training, took place at Epsom Racecourse,
gathering an audience of dedicated AEs, as well as healthcare engineering and estates professionals, for an event themed ‘Driving the Standard’. Speakers from the Institute’s Technical Platforms reported on the activity undertaken during the past year, and discussed pressing matters they are currently facing, with an interactive and thought-provoking Q&A session following presentations. Quiqsolutions gave an overview on the latest software developed in collaboration with IHEEM, designed to streamline the AE auditing process. The Decontamination Board also gave an update on its AP/CP competency work, and shared the new digital CP/AP logbook. All presentations and content from the Authorising Engineers Conference 2024 are available to view when logging CPD activity for the sessions, using the MyIHEEM CPD recording platform, which is available exclusively to IHEEM members.
• Details of the IHEEM Mentoring System were presented during the AE conference, with the MyIHEEM mentor
platform now available to all members who wish to be mentored, or individuals that choose to share their knowledge to mentees. All designated IHEEM Mentors and those wishing to use the MyIHEEM platform must undertake free IHEEM Mentor training provided by the Institute. To find out how to register to become a mentor, visit

• IHEEM attended this year’s Big Bang Fair, organised by EngineeringUK, which gathered over 20,000 young people
across the three-day event that inspired and celebrated the UK’s STEM enthusiasts.
