TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT Updates

IHEEM developing a comprehensive mentor database The Institute is continuing to expand its network of dedicated mentors by developing a comprehensive mentor database, designed to help mentees achieve their career aspirations. As part of this initiative, specialised training sessions are offered regularly to ensure mentors are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and expertise, to provide effective guidance. These sessions prepare mentors to offer meaningful support and feedback, fostering both personal and professional growth. By becoming an IHEEM mentor, members can enhance their leadership skills, reinforce their own knowledge and expertise, gain CPD, and play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of professionals within their distinct discipline. Members interested in attending future training sessions are invited to email: training@iheem.org.uk.

look to investigate some of the most pressing issues and problems we face today, highlighting the need to work with other stakeholders to ensure that we consider safety, while simultaneously ensuring that we strive to deliver services in compliance with other important national directives, such as the drive towards Net Zero.

“The exhibition area will be a vital part of the event, and we are working hard to ensure that delegates can visit a wide range of trade exhibitors that are key suppliers to healthcare estates and facilities providers. “As part of the event, we have the annual gala dinner and awards evening on 7 May, and organisations are welcome to nominate personnel and teams as entrants in this year’s five award categories. Look out for further information to be supplied on the awards, including details of corporate sponsorship from our event partners. “Finally, it is with great pride that we can announce that we will have the honour of facilitating a question-and- answer session with a rugby legend at the awards dinner, with arguably the greatest number 9 to represent Wales and the British Lions, Sir Gareth Edwards, as our guest of honour. “It’s important to emphasise that

this event is not just for NHS Wales. We look forward to welcoming healthcare providers from the private sector and our NHS England colleagues. The venue is very accessible to areas like the Midlands, the south-west of England, and the Thames Valley, and it would be great if key personnel from those, and other UK localities, join us at the event.”

Celebrating the work of dedicated EFM personnel On 18 June, this year’s National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day will once again serve as a tribute to the dedicated professionals who play a vital role in the seamless operation of healthcare services across the United Kingdom. The day offers an opportunity to recognise and thank the approximately 250,000

estates and facilities staff – including cleaners, porters, caterers, maintenance teams, and security personnel, whose efforts ensure the optimal functioning of safe, efficient healthcare environments. Organisations are encouraged to take part in the celebrations by registering for a complimentary supporter’s kit, and sharing their activities on social media using the hashtag #HealthEFMDay.
