Alpla to expand new rHDPE plant in Mexico
Alpla opened a new HDPE recycling plant in Toluca, Mexico, on 10 November in an inauguration attended by the Austrian ambassador to Mexico, Elisabeth Kehrer, and the governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo Maza. The €20m plant has an
initial production capacity of 15,000 tonnes of rHDPE in pellet form. But Alpla is already planning to increase this to 30,000 tonnes from mid-2022. The rHDPE output will mainly be used for the production of non-food packaging such as personal care products and household cleaning agents. Alpla says the demand for recycled material is so high in Mexico and Central America that the majority of the output will be used regionally. Carlos Torres, Regional Manager Mexico, Central
