FAKUMA 2026 | SHOW PREVIEW

Fakuma returns to Friedrichshafen

Fakuma comes back to Friedrichshafen in Germany in October, with its traditional focus on injection moulding technology. We preview some of the highlights

The Friedrichshafen exhibition centre in Germany hosts the 30th Fakuma trade fair from 12-16 October, in what will be the largest collection of injection moulding and raw material innovations in Europe this year.

On the following pages, preview some of the companies that will be showing materials or equipment of interest to the injection moulding sector.

Arburg will present a turnkey solution centred around an Allrounder More 2000 – in which a two-component (2k) machine will produce two- coloured dominoes on a 32-cavity hot runner mould. A new feature is the pre-assembly of the boxes in an autonomous upstream automation cell. A cobot is also used to complete and perform the output of the complete ready-to-use game set. The machine, with a clamping force of 2,000kN, is equipped with a size 400 horizontal injection unit and a size 170 vertical injection unit. A 32-cavity mould from Polarform with hot runner technology

and standard parts from Hasco are also used. In a cycle time of around 60 seconds, 32 two-coloured domino bricks are made from ABS. Unlike conventional 2k applications, the mould does not open and rotate to add the second component. Instead, the mould movement is gener- ated using a two-stage core pull concept. The front side of the dominoes is created by injecting a light grey ABS component via the vertical injection unit. With the mould closed, two hydraulic cylinders then retract the cores and the individual number of pins – creating space in the cavities for the second, mint-green ABS component. This is injected via the horizontal injection unit and fills the back of the bricks and their indentations on the front. www.arburg.com

Asahi Kasei says it will showcase plastics solutions for mobility, electrification and industrial applica- tions at Fakuma 2026. In automotive, its Xyron modified polyphenylene ether (PPE) resin combines dimensional stability, lightweight characteristics and advanced metal
