supplies the cooling circuits through its Orca Plus water management system, while Eisbär contrib- utes closure cooling and mould area dehumidifica- tion. The material processed is supplied by TotalEnergies and has already been used in previous trade show applications. On an IntElect 75, Sumitomo will produce a

injection unit 2000. A clamping unit with 2,200kN and the new 940 electric injection unit are planned for the summer of 2027. The hybrid injection units from 450 to 4200 will remain part of the portfolio. Up to a clamping force of 4,200kN, the Elion can be configured hybrid or fully electric. “For us, electric and hybrid drive concepts are not competing but complementary technologies,” said Davatz. “The decisive factor is which solution best meets requirements. That’s why we will continue to offer both technologies in future.”

Cost efficiency Sumitomo (SHI) Demag will show Fakuma visitors how high-performance, cost-efficient production solutions can be achieved through the interaction of injection moulding machine, mould, tempera- ture control, cooling and material. Highlights include a beverage closure applica- tion running on an IntElect S 280 and the produc- tion of transparent precision components on an IntElect S 75. “Requirements for modern injection moulding

processes are continuously increasing, while applications are becoming ever more complex,” said Anatol Sattel, CSO of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag. “Successful projects today depend on close collaboration between specialised technology partners.”

is the production of beverage closures on an IntElect S 280. The all-electric machine manufac- tures the parts using a 48-cavity mould from HTW, demonstrating the performance and repeatability of its electric drive technology in a high-output packaging application while consuming less energy. transparent card box from polycarbonate (PC). A combination of high dynamics and speed ensures high precision and repeatability – with a focus on reducing internal stresses through intelligent mould temperature control from Technotrans, Contura and CycleTemp. Part removal is handled by an in-house Sam-C robot. Transparent plastics can present challenges other than dimensional accuracy, as minor internal stresses can cause birefringence effects, haze or optical distortions. The presented solution uses targeted temperature management to process the material reliably, keeping part quality high and minimising scrap. Variothermal mould temperature control and optimised cooling reduces stress in the component and improves optical quality. This is relevant for applications that need high levels of transparency and surface quality, such as automo- tive displays, lighting components, optical covers and medical products.

High cavity counts At Chinaplas this year, Engel showed several all-electric injection moulding machines for packaging applications – claiming high cavity counts and short cycle times. One demonstration was based on an E-mac 380 with 3,800kN clamping force. Special versions of flip-top closures were manufactured from 90% HDPE and 10% LDPE in a 48-cavity mould from Cartisan. The solution is designed for high output with

precise process control to address requirements where high cavity counts, short cycle times and reproducible quality are needed. The E-mac supports this with precise motion sequences, high repeatability and energy-efficient operation, says Engel.
