SHOW PREVIEW | FAKUMA

Right: Wittmann will show a servo-hydraulic SmartPower with electric injection aggregate for the first time at Fakuma

Syensqo will present a range of materials aimed at high-voltage battery applications and e-mobility electrical components. For instance, its Amodel PPA AE-8945 HFFR is a halogen-free flame retardant grade of polyphthala- mide for high-voltage battery pyrofuses requiring a combination of fire safety, electrical insulation and mechanical strength. Ryton PPS R-3-410 BL LZT is a polyphenylene sulphide optimised for laser welding, which can raise productivity while allow- ing end-of-life recycling in applications such as electric actuator housings and sensors. It has also extended its Echo portfolio of

materials, which includes a number of mass-bal- anced grades. It claims to have the first mass-bal- ance-certified PSU resins in the market, as part of its Udel and Radel offerings. Also, five new Omnix Echo grades, with recycled content of 33-98% from PCR and PIR sources, are mainly targeted at household appliances and consumer goods. It also offers similarly certified grades of Amodel PPA and Ryton PPS compounds, targeted at electrical and electronic applications in e- mobility. www.syensqo.com

Technotrans will show a range of thermal manage- ment solutions for plastics processing, including several live demonstrations. One highlight will see several Technotrans systems – including variothermal mould tempera- ture control – on an electric injection moulding machine from KraussMaffei making display frames. Here, an energy-efficient refrigeration machine using R290 (propane) is used to cool the entire system. Tool temperature control with switching valves ensures an optimal surface structure for the plastic parts. Conventional temperature control is provided by two units from the Teco CI series. “With our resource-saving cooling and tempera-

ture control technology, customers shape their production processes for the future, enhance competitiveness, and reduce CO2 footprint,” said Nicolai Küls, managing director of Technotrans. www.technotrans.com

Wittmann will showcase a broad range of technol- ogy at Fakuma, encompassing injection moulding machinery, and a wide variety of its ancillary products.

40 INJECTION WORLD | September/October 2024

With an optional electric injection unit, the machine combines the advantages of the servo-hydraulic SmartPower’s generous mould space with those of the all-electric EcoPower, for maximum shot-to-shot reproducibility. At Fakuma, it will be shown in the Combimould

version. It will demonstrate production of a bottle opener made of PC and TPE on a SmartPower B8X 120/350H/130S with electric injection unit, using a mould supplied by FKT Formenbau. The SmartPower B8X 120/350H/130S comes as a compact Insider solution with a W918 robot from Wittmann and a conveyor belt integrated in the work cell. The robot inserts the metal parts fed from a magazine into the mould, where they are over- moulded with polycarbonate. The resulting base body is passed to the second station, where it is over-moulded with TPE to give it a better grip. On the ancillaries side, its Aton Plus segmented wheel dryer is now available with Eco-Drive – a frequency inverter regulation system that it is developing for its complete ancillary range. Here, it enables dynamic adjustment of the dry air output to the current material requirements. The result is a constant dew point maintained regard- less of environmental conditions, plus additional savings in energy consumption. The decisive parameter is the quantity of

material being fed into the drying silo. In cases of low material consumption or machine standstills, the material protection function works to achieve the lowest possible energy consumption. This cuts operating costs and improves the ecological footprint.

In addition, it will present its new Feedmax

Primus series of material loaders for the first time. The central loaders are available in different

sizes. With a container diameter of 200mm, the Feedmax Primus is suitable for filling volumes of 3 or 6 litres. The larger version with a container diameter of 300mm offers a separation volume of up to 25 litres. www.wittmann-group.com
