FAKUMA | SHOW PREVIEW
Fakuma: focus on moulding
Fakuma returns to Friedrichshafen in Germany in October, with its traditional focus on injection moulding technology. We take a look at some of the highlights in advance
The Friedrichshafen exhibition centre in Germany hosts the 29th Fakuma trade fair from 15-19 October, in what will be the largest collection of injection moulding and raw material innovations in Europe this year. “Last year, we welcomed 1,636 exhibitors from 40 countries in 12 halls,” said Annemarie Schur, Fakuma project manager for exhibition organiser PE Schall. “Foreign participants made up 38%, and similar numbers are expected this year.” Fakuma will have a focus on sustainability. As well as energy efficient machinery, it will feature many sustainable materials – including many recycled grades (which is covered covered in our article on recycled materials). Another highlight of this year’s event is a ‘Round
Table’ session on Tuesday, 15 October. Five panellists will discuss digitalisation in plastics processing under the heading ‘Digitalisation – Top or Flop?’ The panellists are: Michael Braungart, founder and scientific director of Braungart EPEA;

Philipp Lehner, CEO of Alpla; Guido Frohnhaus, managing director for technology at Arburg; Hans-Josef Endres from the Institute of Plastics and Circular Economy at Leibniz University Hanover; and Thomas Seul from Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences.
On the following pages, we take a look at some
of the companies that will be showing materials or equipment of interest to the injection moulding sector.
