Right: Maguire says its Ultra vacuum dryer works up to six times faster than traditional desiccant drying methods
caliper in a small, single-cavity hot runner mould. Synchronised multi-axis movements, ejector and measuring functions reduce the dry cycle time of the smallest model to less than two seconds. An open platform operating system is available for intelligent networking, user-friendly programming and convenient automation. “The overall advantage for the user is higher
productivity with lower unit costs,” said Riva.

Maguire Products showcased a range of materials handling solutions at Fakuma, including dryers, blenders and feeders. Its gravimetric batch blenders are engineered
for precise dosing, material traceability and rapid material changes, offering the flexibility to handle small and large-scale production needs. At the show, it exhibited its WSB MB Micro and WSB 240R models.
At the same time, its Ultra vacuum dryer was on
display. Known for its energy efficiency and drying speed, it claims to offer savings of up to 80% in energy costs, drying materials up to six times faster than traditional desiccant drying methods. Visitors were able to explore potential cost savings using Maguire’s interactive savings calculator. “The Ultra dryer’s revolutionary technology
allows processors to reduce energy consumption while enhancing production efficiency,” said Chris Crittenden, director at Maguire Products in Europe. The MGF feeder family, recently expanded to over 60 models, provides high dosing accuracy for additives and masterbatch, with 20-30% savings over volumetric systems, says the company. Featured models, including the MGF and MGF+100X-3 with integrated extrusion control, were demonstrated in both extrusion and mould- ing applications. In addition, Maguire highlighted its FlexBus
central conveying system, designed for plant-wide material handling control. Compatible with various equipment, it offers intuitive touchscreen interfac- es, while the FlexBus Lite version provides a streamlined solution for smaller-scale operations. Both systems are easily retrofittable to third-party equipment.

At Fakuma, Milacron launched its eQ180-MSW all-electric injection moulding machine using monosandwich technology. The eQ180 four-cavity machine has a clamping
force of 180 tonnes and a screw diameter of 50mm, alongside an electrical mono extruder with

a 40mm diameter screw. Performing with a shot weight of 96g and a cycle time of 61.5s, it pro- duced multi-layer hinges at the show. The monosandwich process allows for the
production of multi-layer parts, using post-consum- er recyclable (PCR) materials. Although this technology is well established, this is the first time it has been integrated into an all-electric machine platform, says Milacron. Milacron’s machines are equipped with an injection unit and a secondary extruder. In the monosandwich process, the core component material is metered in the main injection unit, while the skin component is placed in front of the core component using the secondary extruder. When injected into the mould, the virgin component flows into the cavity before the core component. The sandwich construction of the part allows PCR material to be used on the inside, while virgin material is used for the outer layer. “Today, the monosandwich process is more
relevant than ever, as most processors are very aware of how their production impacts the circular economy,” said Alexander Boos, managing director of Milacron Europe. “By integrating PCR into the core of the injection moulded part, upwards of 60% of the core can be recyclable material with our eQ180.”
