SHOW REVIEW | FAKUMA

Right: BASF’s Ultrason grades can be used in frames, gaskets and separator membranes

lyzers with special focus on higher operating temperatures and longer lifetime, we help custom- ers choose the right Ultrason grade – and offer our experience during part and tool design up to final serial manufacturing,” said Erik Gubbels of Ultrason global business development at BASF. www.basf.com

Cabopol Polymer Compounds introduced its R-Sofiprime range of polypropylene (PP) com- pounds at Fakuma. These are designed to meet the growing demand for sustainable materials. The portfolio now includes two key solutions: a compound with 70% recycled content for industrial injection moulded parts; and one specifically for the automotive industry, with 35% recycled material. The compound with 70% recycled material is for industrial parts, offering environmental benefits without sacrificing performance. Materials like this can help industries incorporate more recyclate into essential applications, it said. Its automotive compound, with 35% recyclate, meets the performance requirements of the industry. As it faces increasing pressure to adopt sustainable materials, R-Sofiprime provides a reliable solution that balances recycled content with high durability and functionality, says Cabopol. Cabopol offers Life Cycle Analyses (LCAs) for its

products, adhering to ISO 14067 and ISO 14040 standards. These provide an overview of the environmental impact of each product, helping customers select the most suitable formulations and applications. www.cabopol.com

Polyamides supplier Domo Chemicals showcased several new grades and applications at Fakuma – while announcing two new sustainability certifi- cations. For instance, its expanded range of Technyl

4Earth recycled grades features polyamides made from post-consumer fishing nets. In partnership with Sea2See, an organisation that collects and reuses discarded fishing nets in Africa, this ap- proach reduces reliance on fossil fuels and sup- ports local communities, says Domo. Domo also launched two new PA6 grades

certified for food and water contact, including WRAS hot water temperature certification. The Technyl Safe C range claims to cut CO2 emissions by nearly 22% compared to traditional brass components. These components are aimed at water management applications such as filtration systems, pumps and valves, as a more sustainable

alternatives to conventional materials. There were also examples of lightweighting. In

collaboration with Brano, it has developed a lightweight polyamide brake pedal for a heavy- duty truck, reducing the weight of the part by around 27% and the overall cost of the final component by 60%. In addition, it unveiled Technyl Lite – a polyamide-based unidirectional (UD) composite tape. Reinforced with glass or carbon fibre, it offers high strength and stiffness, allowing it to replace metal in a number of sectors. In addition, the company revealed that it has

retained an EcoVadis Gold medal – with an 8-point improvement from the previous year. It has also secured an ISCC+ certification for its newest plant in Haiyan, China – adding to those for its Germany, Poland and Italy plants – which allows it to offer versions of its Domamid and Technyl PA6 and PA66 based on the mass balance method. www.domochemicals.com

Dreyplas exhibited a range of Lubmer UHMW-PE grades from Mitsui Chemicals – which it says can reduce the friction coefficient of engineering plastics more effectively than PTFE. In addition to their tribological properties, the

materials have good chemical resistance, low density and water absorption, and high flexibility and impact strength at low temperatures. Another advantage is the low noise development during sliding movements. Dreyplas distributes Lubmer materials in the

DACH region. The Lubmer granulate range includes the

abrasion-resistant L3000, L4000 and L5000, which differ in terms of their molecular weight. In addi- tion, the L5220 grade – which contains a low oil content – offers self-lubricating properties. These granules allow the use of hot runner technology and tunnel sprue systems for injection moulding technical parts, and are also suitable for the
