Right: 4-drop L2X-Mikro valve gate system from Ewikon for small injection moulding machines

Small machines Ewikon has made the L2X-Mikro high-perfor- mance hot runner system for small injection moulding machines avail- able as a compact 4-drop version with valve gate technology for shot weights

around 0.05g. The system uses synchronous

hydraulic cylinder, but offers all the benefits of the electric drive. The core component is a compact electric drive unit with a special temperature-con- trolled adapter unit that makes it possible to operate the cylinder on the manifold. The method of adjusting, assembling and disassembling the valve pin from the rear, without dismantling the cylinder, will also be retained, as will the possibility of dismantling the cylinder housing without excessive lateral movements. In addition to user-friendliness, the design concept is primarily aimed at saving installation space in the mould.

plate technology to enable simultaneous actua- tion of all valve pins. Due to the compact design of the drive technology, in which all components are incorporated in the smallest possible installation space, it can be easily integrated into all common mould sizes for small injection moulding machines. The company adds that during the development

of the system, the focus was on high thermal performance in order to be able to process standard materials but particularly technical plastics with narrow process windows. For this purpose, the hot runner nozzles feature powerful direct heating. The slim nozzle used with an outer diameter of only 10mm and a flow channel diameter of 3mm has a leak-proof screw connec- tion with the manifold. Despite the extremely compact design, it was possible to use a coil heater, which is integrated into precise cut-outs in
