ties. If the hot runner design is not optimised for bio-resins, this can be a source of or compound the issue. Taking into consideration flow pattern, eliminating hang-up spots and other design requirements are critical elements that need to be considered.” Mold-Masters’ products have been proven successful in a wide range of bio-resin applications, he says. New and enhanced products introduced by Mold-Masters recently include the Accu-Valve GX Premium Cylindrical Valve Gate Seal. It says that Accu-Valve Premium cylindrical gates feature continuous 360° pin guidance in close proximity to the gate for precision gate component alignment. The Accu-Valve design significantly minimises wear of the gate and valve pin that leads to gate quality deterioration. By maintaining these critical high tolerance dimensions and concentricity, Accu-Valve enhances reliability and extends service life. The result is high quality gates for millions of cycles, says the company. Applications include medical, packaging and personal care. Accu-Valve is available in three versions to accommodate the increased shift towards valve gated applications in recent years – MX (Enhanced Fill Balance), CX (Color Change) and the new GX (Simplified Maintenance). The Accu-Valve GX is a cylindrical valve gate design variation that features a replaceable gate insert (with integrated valve pin guide) that significantly simplifies maintenance. This design provides moulders with an easy-to- replace component, which eliminates traditional gate hole rework/welding or having to worry about matching tight tolerances. Moulders can reorder the gate seal insert which significantly minimises downtime and allows for maintenance costs to be much more predictable. Accu-Valve GX is suitable for packaging and other similar applications (including those which are fast cycling). It is compatible with Mold-Masters Master-Series and Summit-Series hot runner systems with using nozzle sizes Femto to Centi (5g to 50g). The company says its MasterShield leak protec- tion technology has now been extended to all packaging hot runner solutions as a standard feature, where a spring design pre-loads the nozzle to the manifold. This enhanced sealing feature offers greater production reliability through enhanced leakage protection during cold start-ups and in the event of accidental overheating. MasterShield spring design has a much wider and more reliable range of operation that minimises excessive load on the entire stack. This also allows for relaxed tolerances on plate manufacturing for mould makers. It has now become a standard

component on Mold-Masters packaging hot runner solutions, which includes Sprint (Lightning Fast Cap & Closure) hot runner systems and ThinPak-Series (High Pressure Thin Wall Packaging) hot runner systems. The TempMaster M3 controller platform incor-

porates TC-Connect Technology and APS-AI, for simplifying the moulding cell, saving money and improving process capabilities. TC-Connect eliminates the need for traditional T/C control cables, saving significant cost, weight and clutter from the moulding cell. It utilises a new eBox design that attaches to the mould. A single, thin and lightweight data communication cable connects from the back of the M3 controller to the eBox. Wiring the hot runner system remains unchanged. This technology is compatible with new and any older (retrofit) hot runner systems. TempMaster M3 utilises a high capacity 4z-15A modular control card that reduces the number of cards required by up to 50%. Cabinet designs have a 47% reduced footprint and are up to 64% more compact overall. Thrissileri says that Mold-Masters is continuing

to look at ways of optimising existing designs to offer enhanced performance, greater productivity and lower part costs. On the co-injection side, Mold-Masters is exploring solutions that provide lightweighting opportunities and wider utilisation of post-consumer recycled materials. HRSflow has introduced new and advanced developments around hot runner systems that are specially designed to increase product quality in cascade injection moulding. This includes recently launched HyFlow technology developed for applications with hydraulically actuated cylinders, in which the opening and closing speeds and the
