EXHIBITION PREVIEW | K2022

higher film yield and optimised film properties, especially for films in the 2-micron range. The company has made several technical

innovations to improve sustainability in film production. Thanks to a new type of ‘direct fluff dosing’, edge trimmings and production waste can be directly recycled back into the extrusion process in a higher percentage – without re-granulation. This saves energy and raw material – coming very close to ‘zero waste’. Also, instead of using heat exchangers for heat

recovery, a new energy-efficient oven control system – across all temperature zones of the stretching oven – now saves around 200 kW per year. A patented ‘aerodynamic zone separation’

docking station. Single-screw extruders, the conical twin-screw extruder and the new B-TSE-A 12/36 mini compounder can also be operated with the MetaStation 4E. The device is underpinned by Brabender’s MetaBridge software. The user interface can track measurement results from any location and end device and includes several data evaluation functions.

Another important parameter when processing high-quality plastics is water content. The Aquatrac V moisture analyser can do this for a variety of materials, including PET recyclates, according to DIN EN ISO 15512:2019. Brabender will perform live measurements at the show, using the device. www.brabender.com

Brueckner will showcase a variety of its film stretching technologies at K2022. The company says that its machines will further

increasing efficiency in film production and boost sustainability – by decreasing raw material use, cutting energy consumption and reducing waste. Brueckner will present a number of new bi-ori- ented film lines – including BOPP and BOPET line concepts with “significantly higher running speeds” than 600 m/min. Demand for BOPA film is also increasing – for

applications such as packaging of oily or fatty foods. In response, Brueckner will present new lines with up to 80% higher output. This is based on increasing production speed from 220 to 350 m/ min and widening the line from 6.6 to 7.4m. In battery separator and capacitor foils, the

existing line width of 5.5m is gradually being increased to over 6m – increasing output by at least 20%. In addition, both the sequential and simulta- neous stretching technology for capacitor films have been further developed: the focus is on

process guarantees more uniform film quality across the working width – and for higher produc- tion speeds. This raises the proportion of A-grade film on the winder, which reduces production waste and specific energy consumption. Stretching lines are the main driver of Brueckner’s

business. The company says that increased demand for its products will see its turnover more than double from 2020 (sales of around €400 million, or US$400m), to exceed €800m (US$800m) this year. China continues to be its strongest market, while the Indian subcontinent and South-East Asia remain core markets. However, it adds there have also been increasing orders from Europe in recent years. The company’s Servtec division will present new, customised conversion packages (line transforma- tion packages) by producing mono-material film types on existing film stretching lines. The necessary conversion measures are adapted to each produc- tion line – running materials such as BOPP, BOPLA or BOPE – and are available for lines of any age. Together with the line operator, an on-site evaluation of the plant is carried out and from this the specific requirements for the conversion are identified. It will also display its One digital service prod- ucts – which have been installed on more than 350 production lines worldwide. New modules and functions will be presented at this year’s show – such as automatic language switching and a new maintenance plan assistant. www.brueckner.com

Coperion of Germany is best known as a producer of compounding machinery, which is being used more frequently in recycling operations. With its subsidiary, Coperion K-Tron, the company will showcase a number of recycling tech- nologies of interest to film and sheet extruders. One element of its presentation at K2022 will be
