Co-extrusion feedblock boosts production of 11-layer film

Reifenhäuser will showcase its Reicofeed 2.2 feedblock for barrier films at Chinaplas. The coextrusion

feedblock allows the layer structure to be controlled and influenced while the production is running. It enables film structures of 11 or more layers to be optimally adjusted while the line is in operation. At the same time, efficiency is improved because a multi-layer film can be encapsulated inside the feedblock. This avoids the need for an additional encapsulation device in the flat die or an extra extruder – a space-saving solution that boosts efficiency. It means that film producers can use less energy and raw materials.

Three-layer blown film line produces breathable diaper back sheets

Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) will showcase a range of innovations in film production – as well as highlighting some of its bag-making concepts. At Chinaplas, the company

will show a three-layer Varex II system with an inline-MDO stretching unit, which is used to make a very thin breath- able diaper back sheet film of only 12g/m². This product is using produced using cast film extrusion, and with a higher basis weight. “There is a clear trend

toward blown film – and blown films will replace cast films for this application,”

said Andreas Hoppe, customer service consultant for extrusion systems at the company. The topic of load securing

is also increasing in Asia. With the Filmex II cast film extrusion line, W&H offers a solution for the manufactur- ing of demanding stretch films.

The company will also

show its Optimex blown film extrusion line, making film for further processing on the AD Plastic 2, for the AD ProFilm MP-Sack – a new bag concept with a high moisture barrier. Michael Fischer, CEO of W&H Asia Pacific, said: “With the AD ProFilm Sack, we offer a solution that ensures high performances, up to the film recipe.” ❙ www.wuh-group.com

The line concept was

first seen at last year’s K show in Germany – after which the company sold a 5300mm wide cast PP line to an Asian customer, as well two lines for Europe that include a Reifenhäuser cast film die and Reitruder RZE90 twin-screw extruder.

“Asia – especially China – is setting new

trends in films and related line technologies,” said Philip Neumann, sales director at the cast sheet coating division. “For that reason, customer feedback on our latest developments is important to us. We want to discuss new products with our customers, and the steps needed to develop them.” ❙ www.reifenhauser.com

Control unit’s advanced functions

Battenfeld-Cincinnati is to show its BCtouch UX control at Chinaplas for the first time – in combination with an extruder, and as a mobile operator terminal. It has a large multi-touch display with a new visualisa- tion concept. The modern user interface offers simple, familiar operating concepts known from tablets or smart phones (such as multi-touch zoom).

Its advanced functions support efficient production planning and preventive maintenance intervals. In addition, it fulfils the requirements for connectivity with servers and mobile appliances, so is suited for Industry 4.0 applications. The company will also

showcase applications for sheet extrusion. It has a range of high speed extruders for the production of thermo- formable sheet. The extruders offer 15-25% energy savings compared to conventional systems, says the company, while its Multi-Touch roll stacks ensure flat, stress-free sheet and high transparency – particularly for PP products. Also, its planetary roller

extruders are aimed at PVC sheet production, for applications such as blister packaging and decorative sheet. The extruders can be adjusted to different formulas and have outputs up to 4,000kg/h are possible for PVC. ❙ www.battenfeld-cincinnati.com
