ADS plans construction of new plant in Florida
US-based Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) is to build a new pipe manu- facturing facility in Lake Wales, Florida. Construction of the plant – on a 100-acre site – will begin in 2024. The site is around 60 miles south of Orlando and will add to the company’s current manufac- turing facilities in Sebring and Winter Garden. Both these facilities will continue to operate, supplying Florida and the south-eastern US. “This manufacturing facility is an important
investment in a key region for us,” said Scott Barbour, president and CEO of ADS. “It will help us meet our commitments in the region while giving us the flexibility to expand further as we continue to grow.” At the same time, ADS
reported a fall in sales for the first half of the year. Revenue decreased by 13% to around US$1.56 billion. At the same time, profit fell by 9% to around US$311 million. Domestic sales of pipe fell 16% to around US$167m, which Barbour said was
down to lower demand in the US construction and agriculture sectors. At the same time, international sales fell by a similar amount, to around US$122m. “Results from the ADS
pipe portfolio remain in line with expectations,” said Barbour. “Uncertainty remains as to the impact of tightening credit standards and higher interest rates on the non-residential and residential markets in the second half of the fiscal year.”

It will stop manufactur- ing in Bogen – which makes PVC profiles for windows and doors – and logistic activities in Hunderdorf, Bavaria. The move will affect
more than 230 people, according to Deceuninck. Deceuninck says it is optimising its European production and logistic footprint to “achieve sustainable growth, improve business perfor- mance and assure a reliable supply and service”. Production from Bogen
will be transferred to other manufacturing plants in the company.
Customers serviced
from both locations will not be affected, according to the company.

BASF app gives sustainability overview
BASF has released a digital application to give customers a better overview of the sustainability status of the products they buy while helping them identify solutions to hit sustainability targets. The app, called MyCarbonFootprint, contains data on more than 700 selected large volume BASF products. Using the app, the company says customers can determine how adjustments in their
purchasing portfolio affect their sustainability status in terms of CO2 emissions and use of renewable raw materials. n BASF has also launched what it claims are the first biomass balance plastic additive offering. The first two introductions are Irganox 1010 BMBcert and Irganox 1076 FD BMBcert, both certified by TÜV Nord for mass balance according to the ISCC Plus scheme. The grades are drop-in replacements for Irganox 1010 and Irganox 1076.
