EXTRUDER OF THE MONTH

Metroplast Head office:

CEO: Founded:

Ownership: Profile:

Ulan Bator, Mongolia Altangerel Dorjtseren 2011

Private

Metroplast, founded in 2011, is a Mongolian producer of PVC profile systems for casement windows and balcony shutters – which must be able to withstand the harsh local conditions, it says. In addition, the company extrudes high density polyetheylen (HDPE) water pipe, polypropylene (PP-R) pipe, pipe fittings, and polyurethane heat-insulation foam for pipe.

Product lines:

At its location in Ulan Bator, the company produces both its profile and pipe products. Its Profection brand of PVC profiles are available in the 70 series (70 x 63mm, and 70 x 79mm) and the 60 series (60 x 60mm and 60 x 70mm). For these, the outer face wall thickness is 3mm and the non-face wall thickness 2.5mm. Its HDPE pipe, in diameters of 20-450 mm, is used to transport fresh water. They are made from either PE80 or PE100. PP-R pipe is available in diameters of 20-160mm. The company also produces a range of fittings for its pipes, as well as its PU foam-insulated pipe products.

Factory location:

The company has a single production facility in Mongolia’s capital, Ulan Bator. It says the main environmental features of Mongolia are a harsh climate and the effects of the sun – which dictate the durability of its products. Features of its plastic window profiles include frost-resistance, durability of 50+ years, easy to install and resistant to the effects of UV radiation. Its pipes are used in a variety of applications, including gas transmission lines, irrigation systems and electrical conduit.
