Deceuninck raises sales and profits for full year

Belgian profile extruder Deceuninck has reported increased sales and profits in 2020. Full-year sales crept up by just over 1% to around €642 million ($US778m). The com- pany said that the negative effects of the Coronavirus pandemic were compen- sated by factors such as market recovery in Turkey. Profitability, in the form of adjusted EBITDA, reached €86m (US$104) – a 42% increase compared to the previous year. This improve- ment was driven mainly by higher volumes and improved operational efficiency, while Covid-19 effects were offset by various cost reduction initiatives and some

reductions in raw material prices, said the company. Sales in Europe fell more

than 6.2, due mainly to reduced volumes caused by Covid-19 lockdown meas- ures across Europe. In North America, sales rose by nearly 18% thanks to market growth and new customer wins. Here, the overall impact of Covid-19 on volumes remained limited. Sales in Turkey & Emerging Markets rose more than 3% to €165.3m due to a recovery in the Turkish domestic market. The expansion in emerging markets was offset by the impact of Covid-19 – especially in India and Chile, which have had long-lasting lockdowns, said the company.

Francis Van Eeckhout,

CEO of Deceunink, said: “I am pleased that in 2020 we could resume our profitable growth path, with EBITDA and earnings reaching their highest level in a decade.” This year, the company plans to make further investments in its recycling facility in Diksmuide. In 2020, the plant recycled 22, 000 tonnes of PVC – the equivalent of 1.1m old windows, and over 20% of the company’s European PVC consumption, said Deceuninck. The company said that

the “strong performance” in 2020 has continued into early 2021 – with “high growth in all regions”. www.deceuninck.com

“During one of the most challenging business periods in recent history, 2020 was another record year for us,” said Bryan Fairbanks, CEO of Trex.

For the first quarter of this

year, Trex expects net sales of US$235-245m – a 20% rise on the equivalent period in 2020. The com- pany also expects growth to

expand in the second and third quarters as its capacity increases. For the year as a whole, it expects “strong double-digit sales growth”, it said. “We remain on track with our capital expenditure programme to increase production capacity at our facilities in Virginia and Nevada,” said Fairbanks. “Production in our new Virginia facility started in January 2021. When complete – by June of this year – these investments will increase production capacity by approximately 70%.” www.trex.com
