MACHINERY | TECHNOLOGY BLENDING New blenders with sturdy design

Movacolor has launched its new MBS range of blenders. Having compact and sturdy design, there are no mechanical or moving parts in the hoppers – as well as having modular construction and accurate dosing. “The blenders are of the same high quality as our dosing units and can handle all commonly used materials,” said Klaas Talsma, product manager at Movacolor. As well as 17 standard configurations, they can also be customized based on the customer‘s specific requirements, he added. The standard configurations are divided into three series: the 3 series, 20 series and the 20 Extrusion series. All Movacolor blenders can dose accurately up to 0.02% and the maximum throughput is set at 1600 kg/h. “Because they are part of our modular concept, they can also easily be

upgraded to a Hybrid set-up, where blending and dosing are merged in a single system,” said Klaas. Movacolor offers a free compressed air cleaning system with every hybrid blender sold before October 2023. www.movacolor.com

CUTTING

Upgraded cutter for

larger pipe Bellaform of Germany says it has redesigned its Servo Cutter so that it can more easily cut large- diameter pipe. Cutting plastic pipes

with larger diameters (1-40mm) and thicker walls (up to 2.5mm) places higher demands on cutting devices, says the company. For this reason, it has further optimised its Servo Cutter – by improv- ing the machine frame, cutter bar, cutter holder and servo motor. The solid, welded machine frame allows the use of larger guides, while a dynamic synchronous servo motor allows maximum cutting speed and short cycle times, it says. www.bellaform.com

X-ray measurement for inline quality control of microducts

Estonian microduct manufacturer Hoehle has used Sikora’s X-ray measur- ing systems for inline quality control. To measure the inner and outer diameter, wall thickness and eccentricity of its microducts, the company has installed three X-ray based X-Ray 6000 Pro devices from Sikora in its lines – for

microducts in the diameter range of 3-20 mm. “The advantage of the

X-Ray systems is that you are confident about the measured values and you get correct product dimen- sions immediately with the start-up of the line with one shot,” said Toomas Koobas, CEO at Hoehle. “For microduct production, continuous inline monitor-

ing is the key factor when talking about quality.” The company uses three

separate monitors of the Ecocontrol 6000 processor system connected to each X-ray device. These give operators constant access to the current measurement values. Real-time visualisa- tion is the secret of a perfect process control. Compared to alternative technologies, such as ultrasound, X-ray technol- ogy provides consistent measurement without being affected by temperatures or material, he says. “With X-ray you get a

measurement you trust and a guarantee of compliance with microduct specifica- tions,” he said. The company also uses

Sikora lump detectors. www.sikora.net
