Polyhose extruder of the month
Head office: Chennai, India
Director: SJ Ali Asger Founded: 1996
Ownership: Private
Profile: Polyhose, founded in 1996, is a specialist in hoses for fluid transport. These are made from a variety of materials including rubber, thermoplastics, and PTFE. It also has a range of composite hoses. The company claims to produce more than 50 million metres of hosing each year. Its rubber hosing business is a joint venture with US company Caterpillar – and it supplies the company’s Indian subsidiary.
Product lines:
Its products are generally categorised by the materials that they are made from. Thermoplastic hose is aimed at applications such as paint spraying and lubrication, while it rubber hoses are for agricultural, construction and material handling equipment. Composite hose is finding wider use in areas such as oil and gas, while its PTFE hosing is for applications such as moisture cure adhesives and chemical fluid transfer.
Factory locations: The majority of the company’s production is from its two plants near Chennai in India. At the Sipcot Industrial Park, it produces rubber hoses at a 350,000 sq ft facility. The location is also used to produce composite hosing – in sizes of 1-8in and lengths up to 20m. A second plant makes thermoplastic hose, and also has a PTFE vertical extrusion plant – probably the only one in Asia, says the company. It also has foreign production plants, as it has owned Swiss hose producer Exitflex since 2009.
