Olin and Huntsman to merge

Olin and Huntsman have entered into a definitive agreement to merge, creating a leading North American chemicals company named Olin- Huntsman. The vertical integration of the two com- panies will bring together a range of complementary upstream and downstream assets. “This combination

provides a compelling opportunity for Olin and Huntsman to create a more resilient and value-focused chemicals company anchored in North Ameri- ca,” said Ken Lane, President and CEO of Olin. He said that by integrating Huntsman’s polyurethanes business and advanced materials portfolio with Olin’s chemicals assets and operations, an industry leader with greater flexibility to serve custom- ers across the value chain will be formed.

Toray to build PPS compounding facility

Toray Industries has an- nounced that its India-based business is building a new production facility for Torelina material at its site in Suri City, Andhra Pradesh. The high-performance polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) resin offers excellent heat and chemical resist- ance, mechanical strength, and flame retardancy. Production capacity is estimated to be around 3,000 tonnes/yr, with operations starting in early 2027.

With GDP growth of

around 7%, Toray said the Indian market offers considerable potential. Demand for automobiles, appliances, and other luxury and high-value-added goods is expanding with income levels. Under the

Make in India initiative, which aims to transform the nation into an industrial powerhouse, domestic manufacturers are stepping up their efforts and demand is therefore robust for locally manufactured and sourced resin materials. The PPS facility will augment polyamide and PBT compounds that Toray already produces in India. It will expand its range of

engineering plastics for automotive electrical components and engine parts to optimize product design and process condi- tions to ensure quality and accelerate production ramp-ups, it said. Toray is further strength- ening its support system in India by opening a new office in Pune, Maharashtra, in July 2026. www.toray.com

customers to improve operational efficiency. A newly designed cutting head simplifies operation and maintenance while minimising the risk of operator error. The rotor diameter has increased

from 162.5 mm to 200 mm and the number of blades has been increased from 30 to 36. This upgrade enables significantly higher throughput while extending service life by 20%. https://maag.com
