homogeneity. All the dosing tools from Movacolor’s MDS Balance product range are available for this product, providing customers with increased flexibility. The stepper motor and selection of dosing tools offer an RPM range from 0.1 to 200 in 0.1 RPM increments, and the capacity to dose up to 72 kg/h. Its intuitive design allows a 60-sec- ond cleaning and material change through a discharge valve and easy motor, hopper, and dosing tool release significantly reduces downtime. Equipped with advanced dosing software and a
centred load cell, the MDS Balance is a renowned gravimetric dosing unit known for its highly accurate inline dosing capabilities. It can measure the loss-in-weight of the material in a hopper, regardless of possible deviations caused by machinery vibrations, and automatically adjust the feeding rate to stay as close as possible to the set point, resulting in dosing accuracy up to 0.05%.
New controller A stand-out feature of Movacolor’s MDS Volumetric Feeder is a newly-developed 4.3-inch VoluTouch controller which can manage up to two units and is equipped with a range of intuitive functionalities such as easy recipe management. A wireless web interface allows for data and recipe transfer, and the controller can seamlessly connect with an extruder’s tacho signal and initiate a machine in timer mode ensuring smooth integration with any production line. It was launched in the Asia-Pacific region in January and the North American and Latin American market in May, with other regions set to follow shortly. Klaas Talsma, Product Manager at Movacolor,
says: “We believe this product will become the new standard for volumetric feeding across the plastics industry. With its new intuitive touch screen in combination with the latest controlling software technology, we have developed a unique solution for this market segment.” Maguire, the US-based plastics equipment company, recently introduced Maguire Fusion, an integration of WSB Gravimetric Blenders and MGF Gravimetric Feeders set to usher in a new standard in precision and flexibility. Frank Kavanagh, Vice President of Sales, and Marketing, says: “This innovative solution combines the extensive capabilities of our gravimetric blenders with the

versatility and flexibility of our proven range of MGF Gravimetric
Feeders, offering manufac- turers unparalleled control,
flexibility, and efficiency in material
processing.” The Maguire Fusion combines the controls of the WSB gravimetric batch blender with MGF gravimet- ric feeders positioned beneath or remote to a blender. This enables
additives or colours to be dosed directly at the throat of the process while the blender focuses on dosing and mixing prime materials. A major advantage of this system is that the range of configuration options offers users more choice in materials handling layout. Blenders prepare prime mixes remotely, and gravimetric feeders dose colour and additive in line with the process following an extruder signal or the cycle of a moulding machine.
“Blenders could be located on floor stands beside the process or mezzanine floors above the process, with critical control of colour and additives positioned directly at the process,” says Kavanagh. Other key benefits of Maguire Fusion include: seamless control from a single touchscreen interface; flexible positioning; easy installation facilitating quick colour and additive changes; total recipe management; automatic compensation for changes in regrind and natural dosing; expandability for incorporating additional materi- als; rapid colour and additive changes; optimised mixing to minimise de-mixing; and access to comprehensive materials data for enhanced tracking and reporting. Its applicability allows easy integration with any existing Maguire Blender or Feeder installation while the modular design provides scalability with upgrades or the addition of components, future-proofing the investment.
