The Compound Company is sold to pipe producer Polieco
Simon Put, Managing Director, said The Compound Company has a complementary portfolio to Polieco’s
Netherlands-based The Compound Company has reached an agreement for the sale of 100% of its shares to Industrie Polieco, a producer of piping systems and resins for coating and packaging with headquarters in Brescia, Italy. The sale is expected to close by the end of December 2025. “We are impressed by the success that Industrie Polieco has achieved since it was founded in 1977,” said Simon Put, Manag- ing Director of The Compound Company. “Our combined technologies and know- how will strengthen our offering and create a broader platform for grafted polymers. Our portfolios are highly complementary and combine to a more
complete product offering.” The Compound Company has produc- tion facilities in the Netherlands and Germany which specialise in high-perfor- mance polymer compounds and chemi- cally functionalised polymers for various sectors, including packaging, automotive, medical, solar and construction. Products under the Yparex brand include impact modifiers, compatibilizers, and coupling agents, as well as adhesive resins for tie layers in co-extruded products. The company also offers contract manufactur- ing where it blends base polymers with additives according to specific instructions.

Kraiburg’s new FR TPE series
Kraiburg TPE has launched the FR3 series, described as third generation thermoplas- tic elastomers that meet special fire protection requirements including all specifications of the Euro- pean standard for railway applications, in particular R22 HL3 and R23 HL3. In addition to fire
protection properties, the compounds have outstand- ing material properties making them ideal for applications in this demand- ing environment. Compared to their predecessors the soft and elastic TPEs have good tear resistance, im- proved resilience proper- ties, and score especially highly in the temperature range between 23°C and 70°C in comparative tests making them suitable for sealing applications. “Thanks to their low

smoke toxicity, our halogen- free, flame-retardant TPEs improve safety and health protection in the event of a fire,” said Johanna Schmid, market specialist for industrial applications. “In addition, users of halogen- free solutions benefit from easier disposal at the end of the product life cycle.” Being halogen-free is
now a prerequisite for materials in train parts and

components. Unlike halo- gen-containing materials, the FR3 series guarantees significantly lower toxicity when smoke is generated, reducing the risk of harm to people who come into contact with it. These compounds also pass the glow wire test in all colour and hardness variants. Also see Flame Retard-

US plastics associations to merge
The US-based Plastics Industry Association and Society of Plastics Engi- neers are to merge. They have signed an
agreement to finalise the merger by the end of 2025 – after which SPE will become a division of the Plastics Industry Associa- tion. They say the new body will represent the whole plastics supply chain from technical profession- als to corporate leaders. “By bringing our
organisations together, we’re creating a stronger, more connected platform to serve our members and advance the industry,” said Matt Seaholm, President and CEO of the Plastics Industry Association.
