during processing and long-term use. Together with Byk’s proprietary surface chemistry and radical-scavenging technologies, this synergy ensures high material durability.” The additive is beneficial for applications such as outdoor furni- ture and automotive interior and exterior parts. Colortherm synthetic red iron oxide pigments are made with a proprietary high temperature process that provides thermal stability. Colortherm yellow ranges from light, saturated yellow shades to orange tones with high thermal stability for use in PAs.
Growth in stabilisers
Demand for polyamide stabilisers is growing in Asia and globally, said Clariant, which expanded production capacity for stabilisers in China last year. Clariant’s joint venture with Beijing Tiangang Auxiliary Co finished chemical commissioning of a second production line at its Cangzhou facility in China that will primarily manufacture Nylostab S-EED, a multi-functional stabiliser, the company announced in August 2025. The stabiliser is used in polyamides in textile and engineering plastic markets. It is also used in artificial turf applications, where it enhances durability and colour retention under intensive UV exposure and frequent cleaning schedules, the company reported. The additive is soluble in and has strong affinity with polyamide, providing durability. At K2025, Byk presented a new UV stabilising system for polyamide-based outdoor applications that minimises changes in colour and gloss throughout the full lifecycle of the product. BYK-MAX LS 4128 is an organic system supplied as a granulated, free-flowing concentrate with a high level of active ingredient in an ethylene copolymer carrier. The system is a combination of HALS stabilisers with other radical-scavenging compo- nents, including peroxide decomposers and additional antioxidants. “This formulation enhances the overall stabilisa- tion performance by addressing multiple degrada- tion pathways – particularly those involving UV- induced radical formation and peroxide buildup,” the company said. “HALS neutralise UV-induced radicals, peroxide decomposers prevent chain scission, and antioxidants protect against heat

series of acid-modified polyolefin elastomers used as additives to improve properties such as impact resistance in polyamides. The acid modification improves compatibility of the additive with polyam- ides, which provides a more dispersed, smaller particle size in the matrix and improves impact, said the company in a presentation at the AMI Performance Polyamides event in Cleveland, Ohio, last year. Various grades of the additive are targeted for different properties, such as high flow or for low-temperature impact resistance. A challenge is that increasing the amount of impact modifier to improve impact resistance can typically decrease flowability, but some compatibi- lised grades showed an improved balance of strength and flowability. In glass-reinforced PA66, Tafmer M acted as a dual-purpose impact modifier and compatibiliser with the glass fibre. Microscopy showed that the additive provided strong polyam- ide-to-glass fibre bonding and also had good dispersion.
Composites At the JEC World 2026 composites expo in France, new polyamide compounds modified to meet end-use requirements were on display. Envalior launched Durethan FLX-RTM, a new impact-modi- fied PA6 material engineered for rotational moulding of liners for high-pressure tanks, such as hydrogen storage tanks. The company said rotomoulding is of increasing importance in tank liners, where it eliminates the seams typical in extrusion blow moulded or injection moulded designs. The low PA6 compound is heat-stabilised, impact-modified, and optimised for lowtempera- ture mechanical performance and melt flow for complex geometries.
