On demand: Mycotoxin webinar
All About Feed recently hosted a webi- nar on Mycotoxins. This topic remains of great importance, since mycotoxin contamination of grains can cause seri- ous issues both for human and animal health. In it we discuss the effect of mycotoxin intake on animal health and the different solutions for mycotoxin control. The webinar is now available on demand. Three experts shared their knowledge about mycotoxins: Regiane R Santos, researcher at Schothorst Feed Research focused in her presenta- tion on the susceptibility of broiler
chickens to deoxynivalenol exposure via artificial or natural dietary contami- nation. This was followed by the sec- ond speaker, Josep Garcia-Sirera, prod- uct manager at Agrim-prove. In his presentation he explained how to test an effective mycotoxin solution. And lastly, Astrid Koppenol, product devel- oper at Impextraco discussed how my- cotoxins affect the gut function of ani- mals, resulting in an altered immune response. The webinar can be viewed at

Ÿnsect announces acquisition of Protifarm
Ÿnsect is expanding abroad with the acquisition of the Protifarm production location in Ermelo. The French compa- ny claims to be the world leader in nat- ural insect proteins and fertiliser pro- duction. Protifarm produces about 1,000 tonnes annually of nutritional in- gredients from buffalo beetle meal- worms for humans, animals and plants. There is the potential to scale up to 20,000 tons of these ingredients. “This acquisition is an important strategic step for us, strengthening our global leadership position and allowing us to focus on the food ingredients market with an additional product portfolio,” says Antoine Hubert, co-founder and
CEO of Ÿnsect. ‘Protifarm is a world leader in the market for insect ingredi- ents. It has food companies as its cus- tomers in the Netherlands, Germany, England, Denmark and Belgium, which means that the insect segment can strategically grow much faster in this market.’ Ÿnsect has three production companies, one of which is still under construction. Total capacity is estimat- ed at more than 230,000 tonnes of in- sect ingredients per year. No financial details about the acquisition will be disclosed. The main shareholder of Pro- tifarm is Marvesa, a Dutch company that produces oils and fats for animal nutrition.
