School districts that are aggressively pursuing


new technologies for their school buses are also reaping the positive returns of increased safety and operational efficiency.

here is a growing class of school districts that have found creative ways to obtain much of the smorgasbord of available technologies, to make their school buses safer and their transportation operations more efficient. We call these school districts “Super Users.” These districts can come in all


sizes, which proves that the new technologies are not just for the large metropoli- tan school systems. In each case, increased student safety, operational efficiency and stakeholder accountability topped the list of reasons why the districts pursued the technology. And in each case, it is noteworthy that the support direction came from the top down, not the usual bottom up. It was also unwavering, according to participants.
