Christopher Faust started his career in transportation with the City of She- boygan’s Shoreline Metro. He explained that Sheboygan Area School District has partnered with Shoreline Metro since 2018 to provide free transportation for all students and staff, and the transit agency transports many students who are not eligible for yellow bus transpor- tation. Faust noted that he started as a transit coordinator with Shoreline Metro before accepting the transpor- tation supervisor position with the Sheboygan Area School District in June 2022. Two years later, his title was changed to coordinator of transportation. In addition to working for SASD, he remains a part-time transit coordinator for Shoreline Metro and drives part-time with the district’s contractor Prigge School Bus Service.
As of Oct. 28, he is the new director of transporta- tion for Sangamon Valley CUSD #9 in Niantic, Illinois.
When Kayla Miller was a young girl, she helped her dad while he managed a motorcoach facility. This experience inspired her to obtain her commercial driver’s license in 2004. Her transportation career started in a work study program at the University of Iowa as a transit driver. She transitioned to the school bus industry in July 2005.
Miller started her career with Durham School Services
and drove for almost 10 years before becoming the area director of safety for National Express for a year. She worked with DS Bus Lines and National America Cen- tral School Bus for about five years, before returning to National Express in the same role. This month, Miller will have logged 20 years in the school bus industry. She has served in a variety of roles relating to safety and operations, including as an area director of safety, safety and training supervisor, assistant contract manager, director of safety and training, safety trainer, dispatcher, student management, and data coordinator. Michelle Simon, vice president of safety compliance
for National Express, said Miller provides safety, educa- tion and training for over 70 locations throughout the central and western U.S.
