The message is simple: Obey the sign. Stop for school buses. First Light Safety is making sure you can’t miss it.
First Light Safety’s Illuminated School Bus Signs and Fully Illuminated Stop Arms
School District Success Stories: Visibility That Saves Lives
Other transportation directors echo these positive
results. Jake Hunt, Transportation Director at Oakridge Public Schools, shares: “Oakridge has chosen to add the illuminated school bus sign and stop arm to our fleet and all new buses. The signs make it clear that the vehicle approaching the motorist is a school bus. Visibility during inclement weather has improved greatly, and community members have stated that this was a move that was needed for the safety of our children. First Light school bus signs are in line with the high standards set by Oakridge Public Schools.”
In rural areas, First Light Safety’s solutions have been invaluable. Adam Hagan, Transportation Director at Wasatch County School District, explains: “As a rural school district, we have many routes and many athletic trips that require us to travel long distances. This was when I was first introduced to First Light Safety. We started by retrofitting two buses and went from there. To date, we have outfitted all our new buses with First Light stop signs and bus signs and continue to retrofit 3 to 4 buses per year. Anecdotally, it has decreased our red-light runners and dramatically increased our morning and nighttime visibility. Our students and drivers are safer today with the help of First Light Safety.”
For Tony Bragulla, Transportation Director at Lee’s Summit R-7 Schools, the benefits are equally clear: “The increased visibility really stands out, and I’ve seen how it helps other drivers stay aware around our buses. It’s one more way we’re working to keep our kids safe.”
