School Bus Aides Fill Critical Safety Role for Students
stnonline.com/go/pg
I love my bus. My kids have told me I can never leave or at least [not] until they do. They say the bus would fall apart without me, I’m the glue. - Facebook/Melody Daly-Turner
As a former school bus monitor and now a special needs school van driver, what is amazing to me is that Rhode Island is the only state that has the law that requires them on school buses from grades K-5. It’s up to the school district if they want them at the secondary level and not required for high school. - Facebook/
Renee Ignacio
Every bus should have an aide. Teachers are limited to 30 students at a time. One bus driver can have [up to] 60 students they can only see in a mirror. - Facebook/

I have pre-K thru high school kids on my route. And for 11 of my 20 years, I have had the same monitor, and I can’t even begin to describe the impact she has made on many kids’ lives. They are under-appreciated by many but never by me. - Facebook/Gary Damron

Thanks for your acknowledgement and recognition. We have days when we are overlooked and unappreciated by the school and parents. Thanks for seeing us! - Facebook/Lena Mckay
All school districts should be required to have a bus aide. It would do wonders for the behavior on buses. I worked for a company and I had an aide. It was the best. - Facebook/Jennifer McDonald
