As a former bus driver, it is our job to teach the children correct loading and unloading procedures. I know at the school I drove for, if a bus was dropping off and another bus came from the other direction, that bus would stop and activate its lights, as long as it was safe to do so indicating it was dropping off students. This was done as a safety measure. Facebook/Dianna Kinney
I always watched where my kids were located, especially when unloading. My bus did not move until all children were accounted for and clear of the danger zones. Facebook/Shari Scott Reynolds

On the first day of each school year, it should be mandatory to remind the children who ride a school bus that when they exit the bus they must never move back towards the bus no matter what! Never! When they’re waiting for the bus, they never move towards the bus until it comes to a full stop. Facebook/Jerry Diana Bianchet
So very sad, but easily avoided, only if that driver had followed through all of the safety steps to ensure that all of students were away from the bus. Facebook/MB Lamaack
Prayers to the driver and the child’s family. This is a traumatic experience for everyone. Facebook/Patty Russell
Kids that took the bus and [who] didn’t back then used to be taught bus safety. I remember in school we were shown how to board and get off in emergency and where to stay clear of the danger zones on a bus, and to always make sure you make eye contact with the driver before proceeding to go in front of it. What happened to that? Or the parents not teaching their kids road safety to make sure the driver of any vehicle makes eye contact with you before crossing in front of them? Even adults I’m noticing aren’t even watching drivers before stepping out in front of them. Facebook/Chey Hamilton
