T “Moments with You” Fine Art Limited Edition 18x14" OFF THE EASEL MAGAZINE – WINTER 2017

Steven HAP “I want people to think that they

can put themselves in the scene and travel through the story,”

he brush strokes Quartly’s works very

in Steven often

appear light and fluffy from a distance, but there is a lot of

texture beneath the surface. His work is dreamy. Look closely, take several steps back, then slowly move closer again. There is no arguing that his art is deep-

ly romantic. It’s romance with power and flair. His mastery of oils on canvas comes from a “deep” school training and years spent with a one-on-one teacher. He then began “traveling abroad and really trying to understand how did Pissarro and Monet — those French impressionists — how did they paint?” His passion for travel and discovering

unique settings brings him to paint spe- cial places. “I love to paint Paris. Who doesn’t love memories of Paris?” he said. Upon locating such a scene, He may

place a table for two into the scene, pos- sibly with some flowers on the table and maybe some roses. “That’s my trade- mark,” he said. Quartly expertly paints a foreground,

a mid-ground and a background. Some- times to elaborate a story he will include people in the background.
