February Representative Council P

resident Hammond thanked mem- bers of Representative Council for standing up for public education and taking time to make submissions to

the government in defence of public educa- tion. “Every day we wake up, there is another attack on the people of this province by the

Ford government,” President Hammond said, “We need to do whatever it takes to stand to- gether to fi ght for public education, our mem- bers and the people of the province.” Representative Council members ap-

proved ETFO’s 2019 bargaining goals, the result of an all-member survey conducted in

the fall. ETFO’s collective agreements expire at the end of August 2019. Make sure ETFO has your up-to-date contact information so you can receive timely bargaining updates and other communications. To update your information email trecords@etfo.org and subscribe to the e-newsletter at etfo.ca.

Have Your Say #HandsOffFDK BuildingBetterSchools.ca/FDK 42 ETFO VOICE | SPRING 2019

The PC government has announced they want to remove the cap on class sizes for Kindergarten to Grade 3 as well as increase the aver- age class size for all grades. Parents, students and educators know that increasing class sizes negatively impacts the quality of education and reduces access to teaching resources, especially for students who need additional support. The government has requested feedback on this proposal. Let the

government and your local MPP know you do not support larger classes in our schools and, instead of cutting funding, the government should be investing in public education. Go to BuildingBetterSchools. ca/FDK to participate.
