While most would say it was a great year for cargo, it’s easy to overlook that not all regions and trade lanes experienced similar growth. North American exports, for instance, saw only marginal gains in demand while supply surged, driving yields to near-incremental-cost.


n 2024, global air cargo demand surged by 14%, driven primarily by the booming e-commerce sector in China. Comparing customs data to traffic data and examining new data sources, Rotate estimates that e-commerce now accounts for roughly half of China’s exports to the U.S. and Europe.
