We supported the network of RYA affiliated clubs, helping them connect to audiences and rebuild their membership to pre-covid levels. We engaged through a combination of direct 1-2-1 and group workshops, webinars, engagement tools and facilitated peer support.

Following the success of the 2020 virtual Affiliated Club Conference, we introduced a new hybrid approach for 2021 to provide clubs with national RYA updates as well as an opportunity to network in the ‘expo’ area. RYA Region and Home Country events also took place over the winter, providing an opportunity for clubs and their volunteers to meet up in person to participate in workshops and tap into local RYA expertise.
Thousands of watersports enthusiasts
from across the UK came together at Farnborough International for the new- look 2022 RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show, presented by Suzuki. This was a new beginning for the show, and we were delighted to welcome over 7,000 visitors.

increasing opportunities for disabled
people in the UK and supporting World Sailing’s campaign for the reinstatement of sailing in the Paralympic Games. Para

our first hybrid Sailability Conference at Wyboston Lakes. Our range of masterclasses provided an in-depth look into a range of topics aimed to help those working with Sailability groups build the necessary skills and confidence to ensure both volunteers and participants have a rewarding experience.

We were delighted to be awarded long-term government and National Lottery funding from Sport England, in recognition of our commitment to co-deliver change at a national and local level. This will help ensure more people are able to enjoy the benefits of playing sport and being active. Among the first group of over 40 organisations working in partnership with Sport England to benefit from its new funding model, this is an important step for us on the journey to help level up access to sport and physical activity across the country.
Our combined regional planning process, linked to the transition plan, has created
greater connectivity to the volunteer
workforce. We have continued to present an image of the sport that is diverse and inclusive, targeting priority audiences, and building links to multi-academy trusts.
Insight and landscape analysis have of the been boating successfully
delivered through the Vital Signs Survey, Club Census and Watersports Participation Survey. This has demonstrated a significant boom in participation, particularly in those new to water-based activities or less frequent participants. This will lead our focus in the next year as we aim to support these individuals and families to become established members
of the
community. More
than boating 40 RYA Volunteer Awards
were presented in person at the annual ceremony. The awards recognise the long- standing achievement and dedication of volunteers with clubs, associations and the boating community.
Congratulations went to Budworth Sailing Club, who were crowned RYA and Yachts and Yachting Club of the Year 2022, supported by

Filey
Sailing Club and Warsash Sailing Club were awarded Certificates of Commendation for their work over the last year.
